Of Omelettes and Sunsets

I have a friend who likes omelettes. He loves them. But he also has a problem. If he sees even a speck of brown on it, he gets upset. Omelettes to him have to be golden yellow without a tinge of brown. Once he gets an omelette with brown on it, he just goes beserk. He starts cursing the cook or the chef, as the case may be. And he keeps on at it. So much so that he simply cannot enjoy the rest of his meal, even if it is delicious.

A lot of the time, we come across people like him. People who miss the beauty of a sunset because the bench they are sitting on is uneven. A lot of the time, we ourselves are those people. And we have conditioned ourselves to be like that. To be used to certain things even if it is at the cost of much greater and fulfilling things.

How nice it would be if we could break free of these self-set shackles. How much more will we be able to enjoy life and what it has to offer us.

Cheers.
