There is a certain thrill in knowing that what you say can influence the thoughts and decisions of many people. And when you let that thrill run away with you, it can assume alarming proportions.

As the Tamil song goes,
"If you have a little money in your hand
You are its master
If you are neck-deep in money
It is your master."

Ditto the knowledge that you can sway masses by what you say and do.

The past two days, our senses have been filled with two rival media channels delivering two sides of a sordid story. The gullible people, us included, have taken sides, stances and positions. But isn't that what they want? Are they not forcing us to take sides which we would not otherwise have taken?
