Travelling in time. This immediately brings to mind science fiction movies or stories, complete with complex gadgets and flashing lights. However, all of us indulge in it as an idle (often) or useful (seldom) pastime. The engine that powers these trips is the most powerful thing in the universe - the human mind.

Everytime you remember the cool shade of grandpa's mango tree in the hot sun, the thrilling disappointment of your first kiss, the panic of having forgotten your homework on Monday morning, the exhiliration of the first rides on your own automobile - every time you remember, fondly or otherwise, anything that you did, felt or experienced, you are effortlessly indulging in time travel.

The human brain is the most complex organ known to man, and tucked away in the folds of each one of our brains lies every single thing that ever happened to us. We may not remember it consciously, but it's all there. These memories are never erased from our minds. The paths to them are gradually erased, but the memories never go away.

And it is on the bedrock of these cumulative memories that our sense of judgement is built. This determines what we are, what we think, what we do and how we react to situations. This makes us what we are.

Who said a man is not shaped by his environment?

Cheers.
