What is Zine5?

Zine5 is an online magazine that features creative writing works. It also has Classics and Folk Tales, along with a Reviews section. [back to top]

What's with the name?

Well, it's quite simple actually - Zine's short for magazine and 5 indicates that it is updated five times a week - every weekday to be precise. And we say it "zyne five" not "zeen five." [back to top]

So what do you guys do on Zine5?

We promote creative writing by publishing works of any genre. We do not have any kind of guidelines or restrictions. On Zine5, anything goes as long is it creative and it is writing! [back to top]

You mean you'll publish anything?

Well, almost anything. We do have a review process, where we reject anything that is pornographic or carnographic in nature. We also will not publish anything that is overtly hateful and/or promotes hatred. Other than that, anything goes. [back to top]

How do I submit my work to Zine5?

You can read all about it on the Submissions page or submit directly using the online submission form. Alternately, you can send your work to us at editor@zine5.com. [back to top]

What all can I submit to Zine5?

You can submit your creative writing works for the Irregulars Section or as a Feature Writer. You can send in reviews of books, movies, music and web sites. You can send in folk tales and you can send in classic poetry and short stories. [back to top]

What is the difference between a Feature Writer and a Irregular?

A Feature Writer is one who has a weekly or fortnightly feature. A Feature Writer gets a Feature home page and a profile page, complete with picture and everything! In return for all this, the writer gives us a commitment of giving us a piece to publish every week or fortnight, in addition to giving us three works to hold in buffer. An Irregular writer on the other hand, gives no such commitments or works for the buffer. But the Irregular writer does not get a home page, or a profile or a picture. In short, a Feature writer gets a lot more exposure and hits than an Irregular writer. [back to top]

What do I do to become a Feature Writer?

You send us three pieces of your work so that we can review them. Once the Review Team accepts your work and agrees on publishing your feature, you give us the inaugural piece, a profile of yourself as a writer, a picture of yourself or something that is representative of you as a writer, a name for your feature and the name you would like to write under. Once you have given us all this, we will start you off in a week or two, which time we will use to promote your coming feature by running banner ads on the home page. After that, of course, you will have to give us a piece every week or fortnight, depending on the periodicity of your column. [back to top]

How do I become an Irregular Writer?

Send us your work and we'll review it and tell you whether we will publish it or not. If we accept your piece, just tell us that you want to be an Irregular and we'll let you know when we publish your piece. We usually publish Irregulars on Mondays and let the links stay on the homepage for a week. [back to top]

I'm not sure I can make a weekly commitment yet - can I write as an Irregular now and then later become a Feature Writer?

Sure you can. Quite a few of our Feature Writers started out as Irregulars and later came on board as Feature Writers. [back to top]

So what happens to the copyright of my work?

This is the best bit about publishing on Zine5. Zine5 is only a showcase of creative writing, and for this we do not lay any claim to any kind of copyright, electronic or otherwise, to your work. All copyright of all work by you remains totally yours. [back to top]

I want to comment on the works on Zine5. How can I do that?

On every page on Zine5, you will find a link that says "Comment." Clicking on this will take you to Zine5 Interactive, where you can comment on any work on Zine5. On every page that has a work on it, you will find a link that says "Comment on This Work."
