This story is actually presented in the form of a song in the deserts of Rajasthan, India. It is so popular in the region that you can approach anyone, ask them to sing panihari and they will do it with pleasure.

A young girl was drinking water in a nadi (water hole) when a young man riding a camel also came to the spot to drink water. He started asking her questions and then made bold praising her beauty. The girl, angry and upset that a stranger should talk to her in this manner, ran home. The camel-rider followed her.

Reaching home, she complained to her mother that a man was harassing her. Her mother came out, saw the camel-rider and said that this was the man to whom the girl had been betrothed.
