G V Krishnan, 62, settled in Coonoor, Nilgiris, following retirement as The Times of India correspondent in August 1998. During his 20-year stint with the TOI, Krishnan was posted in New Delhi, Bhopal, Chandigarh and Chennai. Before joining the Times in 1978 he had been on the staff of the National Herald, New Delhi.

A graduate from the Delhi School of Economics, Krishnan spent three years in the UK in the sixties, during which he worked for a while in a British provincial daily, The Northern Echo, in North East England. He also had occasion to work for London-based India Abroad, a weekly brought out by a group of Indian journalists; and edit The Afro-Asian Echo, a fortnightly brought out from London by a Nigerian publisher.

Krishnan now runs a web site - http://coonoor.isgreat.net - that seeks to connect the Coonoor-connected.
