Calvin (to Hobbes) - "Sometimes the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere is that none of it has tried to contact us."

For God came to me from the skies that I may look up to him. And He spoke words of truth, for He will not lie and His message is my destiny. It is His word that I bear; I am but a conduit, a physical presence to divine ambitions. I come not to preach but to observe the decadence of man. Man so easily assumes that good as God is, man must be God's creation. What irony his assumption be that he is good.

It began with Armageddon, when the heavens stood in peaceful defiance and evil advanced. It was worrisome for the Lord and He wanted not for His angels to bleed their love. Thus did He seek the Devil in his lair and say, "Not in the skies of heaven and hell". 'twas the Devil then that dared the Lord to set out beyond the gates of their reaches.

"What then", I asked God, "Wherefore did you go"?

His brow creased and his voice shook as he trembled at the very thought. For it was to the deep dungeons of the universe that God and the Devil set upon, alone in combat to save existence itself.

"It was such a void that I might have wondered if the Devil had me in his lair again, but not of such darkness was even the Devil capable" He trembled.

And then the Lord said, "Let there be light". And lo and behold, a star shone so brightly. It was the Devil's consternation, "What next"?

"In a flash I said", said the Lord to me, "If I cannot vanquish you and you my goodness then let us set upon a simple gamble as such may be". The Devil's disappointment, this change, for he had hoped to witness, in all might, heavenly righteousness. The Devil agreed, for the chance to conquer was not one to be spurned and pride be multiplied for his victory.

"I see I have already won", the Devil mocked, "for it is a vice that shall make or break me. What be your gamble?" he taunted.

Unfazed was the Lord, "Let us embark upon creation and find its ends. If it be your form we chance upon, I shall give you your due and if it be my glorious perfection then good shall have triumphed again".

"Another vice be your pride", the Devil scorned, and thus began glorious creation. He tore into the star and crushed it to pieces.

Gentle as ever, the Lord blew out nine flames even as one glowed bright and said, "Choose thy weapon and we shall begin". It was a devilish ploy that the Devil unleashed as he sent the pieces swirling and watched. The Devil then pointed at the darkest and challenged "There, that one! Let us see what you can do with it".

I realized what was happening and I jumped the Lord, "And you won when man was created?"

If a God ever be cynical, I thought, that would have been then, as he laughed, "In six days the Devil resigned when he created those reptiles, for evil had surpassed him. We departed friends and left Armageddon to this new evil. Man came much after that."
