(A tribute to
time, the healer and the slayer)
The face
Of the stranger who helped you find your way
And the place where you lost your way.
Of an irritating neighbour.
Of an idea that made thoughts impossible
Of your ideal that haunted you.
The fragrance of
the flower you fought for.
The causes you wanted to die for.
The address of your best playmate.
The insults that
left you seething
The praise that kept you soaring
The hurt that made you hurt.
The tune of the song you played endlessly when you were ten.
The author of the
story that made you weep the first time.
The pimple that you thought marred your beauty
And the blemish left by the pimple
And the reason behind the thought.
Voices
That soothed, commanded
Made your heart leap
Grated your nerves.
The laughter of a loved one
The sight of a horrific
death
That taught you life.
The cold touch of a corpse
The scrawl on a post card that once was
A name behind a dear face
Lost in time.
Time, you masticate
everything.
My great moments of triumphs, trials
Love, laughter, hurt
Anger, revelation and truth.
Spitting out a new me every moment.
