I have grown up in a lot of ways,
But I am a child, most of the days.
I can work, I can learn, I can play.

Pictures of self, I have one to me,
To live, I do just as men do.
Shades of dark doubt when I see -
Alter the picture, trying to make falsehood true.

I am One, not "a picture and a soul,"
Dreams, thoughts and love, am a Picture whole.
Actions apart, Picture true, I become two.
Against Nature, be that as it may, I suffer all through.

In the portrait, hidden, are doubts;
A pearl or two, in any string of thought.
Nature paints Herself in every birth;
Strokes of love, thoughts, doubts; on this earth.
