I was born in India in a city called Trivandrum in the state of Kerala. At last count India had 28 states and about a million languages. I guess I spent a couple of months there. I spent the next 4 years in a town called Ponda in a state called Goa. I don't remember much about Goa except for the wind rushing through my hair while going down countless hills on my dad's scooter (archaic motorized device on two wheels). Goa is a tourist hot spot and specifically for its nude beaches. I spent most of my time in Goa butt-naked, but I suppose that doesn't count. Growing up was a blur of cricket, scraped knees, agonizing Hindi lessons and homework. Without really meaning to, I found myself holding a parchment that said I had a bachelor's degree in engineering. Having nothing better to do I went ahead and got myself a graduate degree. The time I spent in Austin, TX was amazing; I spent more time on 6th street (for the initiated!) than in classrooms. Defying the laws of 'never go where it keeps raining' I finally ended up in Seattle, WA where I spend my days looking intelligent when matters of database theory are discussed. Writing is a dialogue a conversation with myself. Putting words on paper always gives me new perspectives. I havent taken a writing class and probably never will. Writing has been a very personal experience till now but I decided itll be fun to have other people read my work. Write to Joe at joe@zine5.com |
