In Pursuit of Entertainment
Go to Zine5 Interactive

My pursuit of entertainment begins every Saturday afternoon. After being chained to my workstation all week I consider it my right to be entertained. My mind conjures up images of extravagantly hedonistic pleasures. My weekend will be Utopian and I will be a lotus-eater. It's Saturday night and 'Carpe noctem' is my motto.

So I lie in wait for my friends to appear on MSN on Saturday afternoon and discuss plans when he or she comes online. One of us is bound to come up with "What’s the POA?" All we agree about at the end of the chat session, which is supposed to fire off my one-and half days of leisure, is to discuss it with our respective significant others.

At home in the evening I first get on the phone with my most close and personal friend. We decide that a movie is a no-show because so-and-so will have a problem with it. Dinner? Well some other so-and-so has to eat at home. I'm not in the mood for the disco plus what will we do till it opens. Bowling, pool, karting are all rejected because it's Saturday night, the whole town will congregate at these joints. (Okay, so maybe the pleasures are not quite hedonistic but after working all week anything is wild.)

After we defeat the very purpose of our discussion by shooting down every avenue of entertainment we spend another five minutes deriding the city for not being ‘with it.’ Finally we agree to meet up at a certain hour. An hour is spent gathering each other. Then a debate on who's car to take - one car or two? Suddenly it dawns on us that we don't have anywhere to take the car to.

Everyone is now 'Okay with anything.' And so we continue our quest for entertainment.
