The US, "the Master of the Universe" has finally struck. It selectively targeted places like military runways, aircraft, surface-to-air missile sites, airports and terror training camps. One wouldn't think a place like Afghanistan had a runway let alone a missile. All I see on TV is barren, mountainous land with armed men from the dark ages roaming the area.
Ah but the US must have provided them with all the sophisticated equipment and training back in the eighties when they covertly helped the Afghans fight the Russians. That was about the same time they were promoting young Osama.
Being oh-so-concerned about human rights the U.S. military is also dropping food in Afghanistan. 37,000 ready-to-eat meals. Drop a couple of bombs here, some food there. And they think the Afghans are going to be grateful. The Taliban on the other hand has told the locals that the food is poisoned. Whom are the locals going to believe, their "government" or the "infidels" who're bombing them? Besides, who's going to traverse over land-mine infested areas to pick up packets of biscuits?
I don't have an opinion on the bombing. Just hope that most Afghans were wise enough to scoot from the country. The U.S. has always meddled in other countries' affairs, aided and abetted terrorists and then avenged itself when the friendly terrorist zeroed in on the US itself. Right now they are cozying up to Pakistan, a state where terrorism is a nation-building exercise. One fine day a Pak-based terror cell will attack the US. And it will give yet another US government an excuse to preach holier-than-thou sentiments to the world and launch another attack on some poor, already ravaged nation.
