'Terror' gained new meaning and 'Peace' remained just a word.

Nature proved stronger than man yet again. The earth opened up to take unto her sleeping innocents. And man proved yet again how weak he could be. A bunch of faithful young men cut down thousands with them.

Freedom was redefined as American multimillionaire Dennis Tito went into space and little girls in Afghanistan went to school.

Jayalalithaa was all about chutzpah becoming the Chief Minister without contesting thus giving hope to current jailbird Laloo Yadav.

Valiant were our security personnel who lost their lives guarding our parliamentarians. And the civilians in Flight 93 became soldiers when faced with death.

Candid camera is no longer for fun shows on TV but a tool to expose corruption.

Cricket is more than a sport, a pawn in the hands of officials and players to be used as a weapon, to be traded.

Unity expressed by the Americans as they stood one as a nation.

At a ceremony in the Theosophical Society in Chennai the international president said in her address on peace that since the beginning of time man has fought man so it is not unnatural to fight. But man over the centuries man has gained in knowledge, gained in destructive power but has not gained in wisdom. And so we fight on.

May we gain a little wisdom in the New Year. Have a 2002 full of happy!
