God of Nothings
Comment on Mahabali's "God of Nothings"

Ransom Miles was happy that he was a non-human.

Sitting upon the roof of Hell, he allowed himself a chuckle of complete content. "How typical of a human?", he said aloud. Of course, he was-thinking of the funny looking human with a funny name, who had questioned him in the most sardonic fashion (Ransom Miles - the famous traveller of Hell who has seen all the worlds in all the 16 universes and the 12 independent Solar systems) if he was a God or a Devil. Most uncommon and ridiculous it may be, but the more Ransom thought about the incident, the more restless he grew. "Am I a God or Devil?", he asked himself.

It was only his first day in Hell after being promoted as a Watch-God and he was already facing a strange identity crisis.

As one of the three Time-keepers, he had never found time to talk with any of the Dead Life Forms (DLFs), though he was responsible for producing all the time that was required, to be used and wasted. And it was the first time that he had managed to talk to a DLF when he spoke to Nought-E-Nibbles and without his knowledge he had been led to this grave crisis.

"Am I a God or Devil?", he asked Mild-Lee Mangy when he finally met him at the Fiery Walls near the Bank of Original Sin (BOS). Mangy, known for his wisdom in all the Heavens and Hell, looked irritated at first. After few minutes of seemingly serious contemplation he raised his only brow as if in surprise. But no answer was forthcoming and Ransom had to wait for some more time before he could receive any kind of reply.

All that waiting seemed to have gone waste when Mild-Lee Mangy asked in his screeching voice, "With your cloven hooves, those silly horns and tail, just who do you think you are? And if you don't know even that; why in the heavens are you carrying your halo all around?"

Ransom Miles had never felt as bad in his life as he did when Mangy moved away without answering his question, which, he now believed, carried serious implications. However, the authenticity of Mangy's initial astonishment hit him hard. He was nearly convinced that even Mangy was in the dark regarding the issue.

So, he decided to consult none other than Nought-E-Nibbles himself and find the key to his problem immediately. But, unfortunately. Nibbles was to seen nowhere for a million human years and Ransom Miles had to live with the misery temporarily.

It was a coincidence that he bumped into Nibbles on a nice stormy day in Hell, right when he was thinking about his real identity. After apologising for bringing him down so suddenly, Ransom asked the catalyst of his only problem, "At least now tell me, am I a God or a Devil?". "I really don't know" replied Nought-E-Nibbles in all earnestness. He then proceeded to enlighten Ransom, how the completely-good became God and fully-evil, Devil.

If only he had stopped there, Ransom would have gotten out his misery, convinced that he must be a God as he was good. But Nought continued to brief him on how humans were capable of both good amt evil and thus were greater than all Gods and Devils.

Now, Ransom Miles is sorry that he is a non-human.
