The mustached man in Iraqi army uniform is yet to get up. So, this time, the faceless enemy has found a new face - that of the bearded terrorist from a government-less state, Afghanistan. We have seen these images before - incessant shelling with unbelievable precision. ON UNDEFENDED TARGETS. And, the channels of propaganda presenting a clear black-and-white view of things. On the one side is our new Super Hero, the leader of the free world representing the greatest nation on earth, and on the other is the scum of universe mislead by a twisted genius.
The Richest People Vs
The Poorest People!
The Educated Vs The Ignorant!
The Most Liberal Vs The Small-minded!
And, the air strikes proceeded "like a finely oiled machine." Why the hell wouldn't it? The 'students' Taliban are in no way comparable to the Masters of Universe, are they? At least not in terms of the capability to strike from great distances. After all, who decides what is valour? The brave don't have to risk their lives if they are also the best-equipped military force. Do they? Ask the schoolteacher in the US who was reprimanded for arguing that bravery meant facing the enemy face-to-face and indulging in hand-to-hand combat. That is, if he is still there.
The Afghans, in spite of everything else, are uneducated. Just like most of their Muslim brothers all over the world. Wonder why almost all Muslim nations are autocratic. Some of the kings have even had wives [!] from the western world. The royalty, unfailingly, gets western education while all that their subjects get to study is the need for a Jihad. Maybe if the common man gets a western education he'll ask for nationalizing the oil wells.
"Keep him fighting, keep him rich enough, keep him inspired, keep him awake - but also keep him a religious fanatic. Let him worry about his brothers who suffer at the hands of the infidels in various nations. Never should he see the need to share the oil wealth with us, the westerners, and His Highness." Could this have been their motto? Allah only knows!
And, what are these talks about the oil resources in the Central Asian countries being the motive of the ongoing Afghan War? Do you think the US will now gain a foothold in the region where the Russians had been dominating during the Cold War years? "Now, you must be a Communist propagandist! Like those fundamentalists who claim that this is a war against Islam."
Oh! But haven't you received at least one junk mail per week on Taliban atrocities for the past four years or so? Haven't you read in all the major secular newspapers and magazines, over the past decade or so, about the small-mindedness of the Islamic fundamentalists? Even on September 10th, just a day before the mindless carnage, there was an article on Saddam Hussein producing Anthrax on a large scale. On the same page there was a write-up on Dawood Ibrahim, the man behind the Bombay bomb blasts that killed over 300 innocent people not so long ago, enjoying absolute patronage in Pakistan. Surely, the international coalition will soon target Iraq too, considering the scale of this act of terrorism. But, will they even touch the 'D company' that also traffics narcotics all over Asia, and also the world?
