We are not Alone!

I was waiting at the Dadar railway station for the train to Thane and the platform was as crowded as usual and as noisy too. I walked along the platform as I always do and found this bunch of school kids playing dumb charades. Curious, I went nearer to check out if they were doing natural miming or using alphabets.

Guys! I was in for a shock. They were actually from a special school and are really deaf and dumb. There was a major group discussion happening, all without any noise. And it was more than interesting. These kids looked like they have just reached adolescence and I could even spot a touch of red on the cheek of a boy and a girl, who quite obviously had a special kind of liking for each other. And this conversation among the five kids had all the ingredients that would be there in a normal chat. The maximum utilization of fingers, lively faces and smiling eyes - all sharing a joke, making fun of the tallest and smartest of them, discussing which train to catch and whether it would be crowded or not. Just amazing!

And the way the smartest of them asked a guy who wanted to get into the special compartment for the handicapped - just showing a finger towards the crowded next compartment and nodding his head in that direction - was just fantastic. If at all the scene did something to me, it inspired me. There's so much life around! It's just not us!
