A year ago, a crushed body of a foreigner - decidedly Chinese - was found near the Teynampet Signal, Chennai. Here's an upshot.
This is the city once
called as Ji, Zhuojun, Youzhou, and now Beijing,
(Not to mention Nanjing, Zhongdu, Yanjing, Dadu &Beiping)
Here was born the man ChangZu - for short, Chan
Who wanted to know all that he ever can!
"A trained eye can
see any pattern, however intricate,"
He always said, and true to his word, read those even so delicate!
As a four-year-old he had questioned the logic of his teacher
In calling children the act of nature.
A decade and a half later, he tested his own theory with the dainty Wu Wu
Who fell to his irresistible charm, and said I love you too!
And, not much later Chan
saw something that changed his life
From a simple monotony to a complex strife
A bombing on his country's embassy!
He deciphered it to be a conspiracy,
To pacify the people of his country and put off their fire
On the very day they planned to assemble at the historic Square.
He published his view on his web site what with him being so brave!
Daring grave consequences that could really mean his grave.
Surprise! Surprise! This
made them recruit him as a specialist
And his new job was to supply them the gist.
One day he reached home early to see his best friend just leaving
And was Wu Wu really shocked to see him?!
"A trained eye can see any pattern, however, intricate,"
Chan told Wu Wu before he left her to her fate!
And then Chan got a transfer to the neighbouring nation
Which called his motherland its No. 1 enemy' - with a great passion!
As a software engineer with Who-Or-Why in Bangalore,
To pass time he'd just bang a whore!
But, his job still was
to see patterns however small
And report the data whenever he got a call.
Be it what the beeline of dignitaries plotted at the B'lore hotel,
Or what his fellow conspirators would call only a morsel.'
When the last call he received wanted him to go to Chennai
He said, "I saw this coming and have already booked the tickets for tonight!"
On his first morning in the city, he took a stroll to watch the flow of traffic
Thinking how similar the crowds in the two countries were, "just as fertile
and as prolific."
As ever, Chan waited
for the green signal before crossing the road -
But, only to be hit by a hastening lorry!
The Teynampet police reported to the Embassy:
"The poor Chinky misread the traffic. We are truly sorry!"
