Serenading Sunsets Comment on Mamta's "Serenading Sunsets"

Stephen Hawking once said, "God not only plays dice but also throws them where they can't be seen."

I believe God plays dice to create different types of sunsets. I wonder if His dice are rolled someplace when the sunsets arrive from His treasure-chest, but hidden where my eyes can't see? Sunsets are when God becomes a child and sits with the huge vast sky for a canvas and dipping His fingers into assorted pots of colors, smears and blends them on the sky. Sometimes He's in a mellow mood and creates soft-hued sunsets, the colors so neatly merging into each other it's difficult to pinpoint one from another. At other times, when He becomes passionate and expressive, bright orange-hued sunsets are created with His deft fingers.

Watching sunsets can be an art in itself as a friend once said. You could sprawl on a grassy hilltop and gaze down at the splendor of the evening sky or you could sit on a rooftop in the middle of a concrete jungle and be transported into a different world away from all the noise, traffic and pollution merely by watching a magnificent sunset. I feel that the best kind of sunset can only be seen at the seaside or on a beach. Walking in the evening on sands that are still warm from the harsh unforgiving sun, letting the warmth slowly seep into your toes and beholding the sunset unfolding in front of you like acts of an opera are delights that cannot be measured in any way. When the shimmering sea takes on a golden red hue beginning from a far end where the sun seems to be kissing the sea, you become mesmerized. Just as each time the curtain rises signaling a new act in a play, the colors of the sky change, albeit subtly.

You are enchanted and enthralled by the sheer beauty of the sky even as the sea tries to compete by mirroring the skies. At the end of it all when the dark curtain of night falls, it's like the end of a riveting and spellbinding experience. As you walk away in the dark night, a lingering feeling remains making you feel blessed for being alive and able to appreciate such subtle delights offered by life.
