Inherited poetry from grandfather Prof. Khushi Ram Vashishtha, State Poet of Haryana and father Dr. Jitendra Vashishtha. Started writing poetry at the tender age of seven.

Published Anhadnad (The Inner Voice), a book of poems in English, in 2000. The publication won wide national acclaim and many favourable reviews.

Besides writing original verse in English and Hindi, Samartha translates poetry from Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu into English, and from English into Hindi.

Poems broadcast from the Simla station of All India Radio. An approved drama voice of All India Radio right since seven years of age. Hosted a number of children shows and participated in a number of radio-plays as a child artist. Played the lead role in school English plays for years.
