1983 at Nabha (Punjab). Did his schooling at Simla and Ambala.

Inherited poetry
from grandfather Prof. Khushi Ram Vashishtha, State Poet of Haryana
and father Dr. Jitendra Vashishtha. Started writing poetry at the
tender age of seven.

Published Anhadnad
(The Inner Voice), a book of poems in English, in 2000. The publication
won wide national acclaim and many favourable reviews.

Currently working
on his second book of poems, Shadows Don't Live In Walls.

Poems published
in reputed literary magazines, journals and e-magazines like Chandrabhaga
(Cuttack) edited by Jayanta Mahapatra, leading Indian English Poet;
The Journal of the Poetry Society (India) (New Delhi), www.freshlimesoda.com,
etc. Poems due to appear in the Sahitya Akademi magazine of Indian
Writing, Indian Literature (New Delhi); The Poetry Chain
(Thiruvananthapuram); and other international and national literary
magazines.

Besides writing
original verse in English and Hindi, Samartha translates poetry from
Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu into English, and from English into Hindi.

Translations
of his own poems into the Hindi published in the reputed literary
magazine Vartaman Sahitya (Ghaziabad) and the literary section
of the national daily, Dainik Bhaskar.

Numerous poems,
articles and Letters to the Editor published in leading national dailies
like The Hindu (Chennai), The Tribune (Chandigarh) and
The Indian Express (Chandigarh).

Trained in classical
vocal music for more than seven years. Given a number of stage performances.

Poems broadcast
from the Simla station of All India Radio. An approved drama voice
of All India Radio right since seven years of age. Hosted a number
of children shows and participated in a number of radio-plays as a
child artist. Played the lead role in school English plays for years.

Presently a second
year Electronics and Communication Engineering student at Haryana
Engineering College, Jagadhri (Haryana).
