The mornings here are
bright enough
Sunshine captures dust in whimsical rays
And leaves peace offerings at my door.
But as the skies peak to blaze afternoons
And then scorch to darkness evenings
These thoughts of you percolate slowly down;
From the lightness of morning brew,
Settle down like hourglass sand pouring
Through the day from thought to pain.
A heady potion dense with dust
Engulfs my memory with your consciousness.
Like the heat, a beast upon my back,
Palpable separation lost in daylight
Is alive in these gray spiritless evenings
And bears me down with the burden of love.
