A cylinder of glass encases
Liquid garnet of the darkest red.
From its lucent maroon depths
A thousand bubbles spring to life
And die in glittering sparks
Effervescent at the water's edge.
Small scarlet spheres
With golden hearts of dawn
Rise above and hold the light
They ripple in delicate sprays
Darken, shimmer, and drift away.
Crystal wizards light fireworks
And burst rubies across crimson skies.
While these, my unseeing
eyes
Are roused to sudden, startling beauty
On looking deep into a glass of Coke.
